Anonymous asked: I'm not sure if you've answered this before, but what Sims 3 traits would you give to Dina and Nina? Do you agree with the S3 Calientes?

Answer:

I don’t care for the Calientes in TS3 for the simple reason that they didn’t give Dina any wishes or traits related to money. I understand forgetting less obvious things like Nina’s shyness, but that’s like putting Bella in a blue dress or something.

You can see their traits according to F&R here. I tried to include most of the TS3 traits that I thought still fit. Their LTWs in F&R would be:

  • Dina: Living in the lap of luxury
  • Nina: Physical Perfection

But even the utmost traditional take on the characters I’d think would be more like:

  • Dina - commitment issues, schmoozer, charismatic, flirty + ambitious or mooch
  • LTW: Gold digger
  • Nina - hot-headed, commitment issues, flirty + athletic + great kisser or neat
  • LTW: Heartbreaker

Rather than what we got.

This is an alternate shot of Ichabod and DJ that I took for my character pics. It won’t actually fit on the banner, but it’s now added to the character page. SPOILERS for latest update:

Whoa, I’ve been posting a lot these past few days.
Anyway, I hate asking for help again because I’m sure a bunch of people have better things to do with their time, but here I go. For a long while I’ve wanted to have Sentate’s amazing Pond Skirt with Amaryll’s flats. And finally, after finally getting milkshape to work and also getting the hang of selecting those pesky vertexes and figuring out how to have the textures show up on the mesh, I’ve done it. There’s the proof, right up there in that picture. Look at it lads. It’s beautiful.
Now the reason I’m asking for help is: To do this whole thing I’ve been following Kielen’s tutorial at GOS. I’ve followed it as much to a T as humanly possible. The problem happens around Step #21, I believe. Though I do everything the tutorial says, the view in Body Shop is not like Step #23, in fact, it’s just blank space where the bottom should be.
I’m not sure how else to really explain it. I’m just wondering if any other meshers out there ever suffer this problem or perhaps I’m missing some crucial step. Either way, any help would be appreciated. Thanks lads.

Congratulations!
I have that happen to me all the time and it’s usually a naming issue. Make sure it’s named “bottom” in both the comments and the name that shows in milkshape. (and that you only have comments for one rather than both original outfits)
Also, I find it easier to merge vertexes like in Keoni’s tutorial rather than using extended manual edit. It’s definitely something I’d recommend checking out.

Anonymous asked: What would you say the main theme of F&R is?

Answer:

Hmmm…things are not always what they seem? I guess my main method is to take everything that appears to be on the surface and then subvert it underneath, especially the situations that Maxis set up. Not necessarily change it, but to say there is more to the story than meets the eye.

Likewise almost all the characters have a secret that they hide beneath the surface. That doesn’t mean their mask isn’t part of their personality as well, it’s that all sides make up the Self as a whole and nobody can be defined by one label.

Duality in general could also be the theme. Everyone has a dual nature and most of the characters are equal and/or opposite to each other in some way because of this. Don/Servo, Bella/Brigit, Grim/the Gray Lady etc. Or for instance, Don and Bella: both romance sims and intelligent healers, but opposite in which side of themselves they repress and express.

And most of it is not as thought out as it seems. It’s more of a subconscious thing because I have Jungian philosophy bleeding out my pores. Ordering lunch is like a psychoanalytical debate sometimes.

I sort of figured it was the “fridge locker” version of crying at a wedding, since there’s not really any basegame animations for tears of joy, but it really could go either way. To me Nina seems like one of the less “obvious” characterizations in the game for what she’s “supposed” to be and do. (other than woohoo Don)

I always wonder who the hell beard man and blue dress lady are in that wedding picture.

I can see the “fridge locker” angle, for sure, but it seems like a lot of trouble to go to (and something that can be easily misinterpreted) for an idea that could be portrayed more clearly with simple cheering or toasting. I like the little bit of mystery that pic adds because of that.

She will mourn him in my game, but sometimes not multiple times in a row. I just figure Dina kept her name when she got married, I guess because of how he shows up as the father on the family tree if she adopts a baby with them still appearing married. Uncle Tango is S4 so I don’t think that’s him.

Nina wields the Cake of Temptation towards Mortimer in the album picture like Eve with an apple. That picture always makes me roll my eyes. It’s like “look at these evil jezebels with their CAKE! Beware Mortimer, beware!”

It’s fixed now. Sorry about that!

Follower’s gift time! I made for you three separates for children:

CatofEvilGenius’s H&M cargo pants for CU (original here) shoeswapped with the sneakers from one of the sims store Asian fusion outfits. Textures are from her and fakepeeps, plus some pink ones for little Nina.

DOWNLOAD CARGO PANTS FOR KIDS (link fixed now!)

The shirt from the FT Hobby logo outfit as a separate top for CF. Comes in all the original textures plus plain black and plain white.

DOWNLOAD HOBBY LOGO TOP FOR GIRLS

The AL sweater vest for children, converted from Amaryll’s AM version. Comes in the original Maxis textures, not slaved because I edited out the boob shading.

DOWNLOAD AL SWEATERVEST FOR KIDS

Thank you so much to everyone following me! :D

thesimtraveler:

So I’m thinking of converting this top for Dina’s console outfit. I’ve played around with colours already - found a match by Pooklet but it’s really really bright. Might go for a darker, less in your face purple. I’ve also experimented with the green collar thingie - not sure if I like it. Maybe if I also refrain from using super bright green…maybe I can make two versions - one with the collar and one without.

As for shoes, it looks like I’ll be doing three versions. One with flats, one with Emma boots (Skell converted me to popping Dina into leopard print) and sandals.

And for those who are curious about the skirt, I’ll be using needlecream’s pleated skirt which can be found here

I’m so excited! :D

I think somebody on MTS converted those, but with the wider waist bodyshape (personally I’d prefer one to match the original Maxis). I’m excited to see what you come up with!

Probably not everyone’s favorite pants, but I quite like them and would like to do a few conversions. (for kids and women, they’ve already been converted for all the grownup boys)
